X-Ray Service Overview

X-rays are a safe, painless and quick procedure that creates pictures of the inside of your body, usually the bones. The images show the parts of your body in different shades of black and white.

When you have an x-ray, you may be standing or lying down.

The images are stored digitally and can be viewed by your doctors on most devices. Images are also stored at our practice on a picture archiving communication system (PACS) so that images are accessible to your referring doctor and radiologists.

Exam Prep

There is no advanced preparation for an x-ray.

Once at our rooms, you will be asked to change into a gown and remove all metal objects such as cellphones, money and jewellery so that it doesn’t obscure your x-ray. You may be asked to hold your breath and lie or stand still during an x-ray examination.

Procedure

Some X-ray procedures take a short time while others may take longer depending on the region x-rayed on your body.
You may be asked to turn in different angles and positions in order for the radiologist to obtain as much as information as possible.
