Bone Density Scanning, also known as Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) or Bone Densitometry, is a safe low dose X-ray technique used to produce images of the bones. It is most commonly performed on the lumbar spine and hips but sometimes also includes the distal forearm. Our bone density tests provide valuable insights into bone strength, enabling early detection and prevention of osteoporosis and related conditions.
Osteoporosis is a disorder in which the density and quality of the bones are decreased. A reduction in bone mass and strength makes the bones brittle & fragile, thereby fracturing easily. Osteoporosis leads to weakness of the bones and increased risk of fracture of bones especially of the spine, hips and forearms.
